Things to Do at the Abbotsford Convent

Abbotsford Convent is one of Melbourne's most creative hubs and is just up the path from us at the Collingwood Children's Farm. There's always something to do at the Abbotsford Convent and new things are happening all the time so its always worth coming down for a visit and seeing what's going on in any given week.




Shirt and Skirt Market features stalls from Melbourne's many talented emerging designers. Visit to grab one-off pieces and catch up with what's happening in local fashion. Located on the Providence Lawn, 10am-4pm third Sunday of every month.

Slow Food Farmer's Market is all about celebrating local produce and putting the Slow Food Philosophy into action. Over 60 growers set up stalls and sell direct with no resellers or wholesalers. Come and find the best seasonal local produce, from fresh baked bread, to free range eggs, organic fresh fruit, vegetables and flowers, local honey and cheeses and rare-breed and free range local meat. Providence Lawn & Sacred Heart Courtyard, 8am-1pm fourth Saturday of every month. $2 entry.

Makers Market showcases local artisans, with stalls displaying their locally made and designed art craft gifts and wares. Rosina Auditorium, 8am-4pm, third Sunday of every month.



Laughter Club gathers people together to enjoy the benefits of laughter. De-stressing, energising and relaxing, laughter is one of the best human activities that makes you feel great. Every Saturday on the Providence lawn (except every fourth Saturday) 1pm, $2.

Life Drawing with Eureka runs until 2nd of June with Michael James O'Hanlon (Eureka) and works from short poses up to students completing a 30 minute drawing. Thursdays 7pm-9pm Rosina Auditorium $15-$20.

One Heart Yoga offers daily yoga and meditation classes as well as workshops and courses. First Floor Wellbeing Wing, times vary.


Abbotsford Convent Social History Tours are run weekly by volunteers. The diverse history of the convent is covered and its hidden spaces revealed. Sundays 2pm, $15/$12.50 concession.

Eat and Drink

Cam's serves up delicious hearty, seasonal food from locally grown produce. Of an evening, it turns into a lively bar and is a friendly space to share a drink or two. Ground Floor Convent Building, Monday – Tuesday, 8am – 6pm, Wednesday – Sunday, 8am – 8pm.

Kappaya Japanese Soul Food Cafe offers delicious authentic Japanese fare in the Convent Annex Wednesday – Sunday , 9am – 4pm

Lentil As Anything is Melbourne's iconic not-for-profit cafe serving vegetarian food with a pay-as-you-feel model in the Convent Annex, 7 days 9am-9pm.

The Covent Bakery utlises the two masonry wood fired ovens built in 1901 in The Kitchen Annexe, which served as a central place for the preparation and baking of all food once served at the Convent by the Sisters of Good Shepherd. Now the Convent Bakery specialises in rustic breads and delicious pastry and coffee, 7 days 7am-5pm in the Convent Annex.
