We love making food from from scratch, from the beetroot relish on your goat's toast to the seasonal muffin with your afternoon tea. We make it right here in our tiny kitchen. Our recipe for tasty food is simple: quality ingredients, passionately prepared.

It's Real.

We source from local producers who share our paddock-to-plate ethic and passion for quality. We're inspired by our setting within the Children's Farm, and our approach to food echoes the farm experience.

About us

The story of the Farm Cafe began in early 2005 when we started running the coffee and pancake stall once a month at the Collingwood Children's Farm Farmers Market. It was surprisingly successful and our little stall went from being a once a month occurance to every weekend. Being cash strapped students and volunteering 3 days per week, we eventually asked the farm whether we might be paid for our time however the farm offered a small kitchen and an old vegie garden for lease instead. After a little contemplation, we went in to business.

Over the years the Farm Cafe has grown from a little coffee cart to one of Melbourne's most beautiful cafe's - serving delicious, wholesome, sustainable and ethical food of a high quality.
